According to the Virginia state department, one of Virginia’s key initiatives over the next decade will be to recruit and retain high-performing government workers.
In the Richmond metropolitan area, the government supersector was the fastest growing sector of the economy, adding 3,200 jobs over the last year. State government jobs grew by 5.6 percent, while local government jobs increased at a 2.8-percent page – more than twice the national average of 1.3 percent.
